End of December:
We were called out to a deer involved in a road traffic accident at midnight on Boxing Day, and we were able to release it back into the wild 2 days later. We also released a blackbird that had been hit by a car and had leg and wing injuries, a pigeon that was run over by a car in a car park and had lost all feathers from its tail and a wing, a goose that had an argument with a moving vehicle, and 2 injured woodpigeons. New Years Day was busy and the Centre Tea Shop had its second best day since opening. We are still getting hedgehogs but slowing down. We have room for only a few more.
December 22nd: We are receiving a lot of small hedgehogs that need over wintering. We are taking in at least 1 every day and will soon be full.
We have rescued a goose covered in oil which was on the verge of drowning. It is doing well and will be released in a week's time.
We have given a home to 2 rabbits which were dumped in a local park,a sure sign Christmas is coming!
We have 3 baby deer, all doing well.
We have our usual comings and goings of pigeons.
NOTE: Regarding crows. Crows are very difficult to return to the wild. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT FLEDGLING CROWS ARE THE SAME SIZE AS ADULTS AND CAN OFTEN BE FOUND ON THE GROUND UNABLE TO FLY. THIS IS NORMAL AND THEY ARE NOT INJURED OR ABANDONED. PLEASE LEAVE THEM ALONE.
Every week we take in hedgehogs, feral pigeons and other common creatures needing help. We do not list all these here.
